Program Emphasis
Well rounded program that have extensive forefoot and rearfoot exposure at the VA and in the community. Wound Care and podiatry clinics are sperate giving residents a well balanced experience. Minimal routine nail care as nearly all is done in Nurse run clinics. All attendings both at the VA and in the community are trained in and perform forefoot and rearfoot surgery.

Clerkship Overview
Students will spend half of their time at the VA and half of their time with community attendings. Community experience will include MultiCare - Large community healthcare system, provides hospital based practice experience as wells as Spokane Foot Clinic - Provides private practice and surgery center exposure. Throughout the month students will see a wide array of patients from pediatric to adult, and surgical pathology including complex rearfoot, total ankles and trauma. All attendings both at the VA and in the community are trained in and perform forefoot and rearfoot surgery. Limited number of students at any given time give extensive hands on time for students both in clinic and surgery. In general 2 days a week of surgery and 3 days a week in clinic.

Residency Overview
Well rounded program that have extensive forefoot and rearfoot exposure both at the VA and in the community. All attendings both at the VA and in the community are trained in and perform forefoot and rearfoot surgery. Residents will spend clinic and operating room time with multiple attendings in the community including private practice and hospital based clinics. Residents will be able to learn nuances of private practice, billing and coding. Community providers have high volume surgery practices including reconstructive rearfoot and TAA. Opportunities for research at the VA with mentorship from attendings.
