VASF is a training institution affiliated with the University of California SF and is a high-powered residency which represents the pinnacle of podiatric training in the Bay Area. The program utilizes training resources at VASF, VA Sac, UCSF. Additional experiences include UCSF Pediatric Ortho, UCSF Center for Limb Preservation, Mission Peak Orthopedics (private practice), Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento with Dr. Le and Sequoia Hospital for surgical cases. Training encompasses all areas of foot and ankle surgery including trauma, pediatrics, limb salvage, advanced wound care and private practice experience. You will work side-by-side with the top surgical residents in the country from UCSF.

Clerkship Overview

The VASF is located in San Francisco, a stone's throw away from the Golden Gate Bridge, overlooking the Pacific Ocean and a short drive to Napa Valley. Clerkship experiences includes podiatric medicine and surgery as well as sports medicine and biomechanics. The 4th year students will round daily and assist in a busy clinic. There are add on surgery cases as well as scheduled elective cases. 4th year podiatry students work closely with our podiatry attendings and residents. Students will actively engage in learning with journal club, radiology rounds, and didactic activities. We are actively preparing students for residency while giving a glimpse of a high powered podiatric medicine and surgery program.

Additional experiences include UCSF Pediatric Ortho, UCSF Center for Limb Preservation, Mission Peak Orthopedics (private practice), and Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento with Dr. Le. Training encompasses all areas of foot and ankle surgery including trauma, pediatrics, limb salvage, advanced wound care and private practice experience. You will work side-by-side with the top surgical residents in the country from UCSF. We have revamped out Academic program to include many saw bone workshops, journal clubs and cadaver workshops.
