University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Podiatric Medicine

Introduction

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) School of Podiatric Medicine, located in Harlingen, Texas, is the nation's first state-supported podiatric medical school. It offers a four-year Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) program designed to train students in comprehensive foot and ankle care. The curriculum combines basic sciences, clinical skills, and hands-on patient care experiences, preparing graduates for residency training and practice. In partnership with Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas, the school has established a Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery (PMSR/RRA) program and will accept four residents each year. Residents will acquire diverse clinical and surgical experiences in trauma, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, wound care, and elective and emergent care under the guidance of experienced faculty and community physicians throughout the Rio Grande Valley region.
