Introduction
HCA Houston Healthcare West offers a clerkship program in conjunction with HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood. Clerks spend two weeks at each location. To learn more about the clerkship program, see HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood/West Clerkship. HCA Houston Healthcare, West Residency Program is approved PMSR/RRA. HCA WEST is a high volume surgical program that combines didactic learning, cadaver dissection labs and board prep. Our goal is to train the next generation in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery. Past graduates of our residency program hold leadership roles in many state and national organizations. This creates a networking opportunity for post-residency employment. We have alumni located throughout the entire USA and Puerto Rico. Large podiatric, orthopedic, and multi-specialty groups recruit many graduates. All interviews shall occur on the dates established by the national resident application matching service. Each candidate granted an interview will be interviewed individually or in a group setting on academic and social skills. Call-back interviews may occur and could be in an individual or group setting. Individual interviewers will assess and rank each final candidate, and final rankings will be established by group consensus. The curriculum is available to candidates upon request.Residency Director

Residency Overview
HCA West residents work with over 65 Foot & Ankle surgeons, orthopedists, plastics, vascular and general surgeons. The program maintains a surgical lab equipped for forefoot, rearfoot & ankle procedures on cadaveric specimens. This includes full arthroscopy capabilities and fluoroscopy. Each resident receives 3 cadaveric limbs annually to enhance surgical skills. Residents participate in a clinical case conference webcast moderated by faculty and receive memberships to national, state, and local podiatric medical associations including ACFAS. Residents are sent to A/O, ACFAS meeting and learning center courses. The faculty consists of ABFAS/ABPM Board Certified podiatrists. Many past graduates hold leadership roles in many state and national organizations. This creates a networking opportunity for post-residency employment. The Residency Program offers strong medical and surgical training. By the end of the 2nd year most residents have already reached their surgical numbers.
