Residency Overview

The Podiatric Medical and Surgical 36-Month Residency at Sanford Health is a comprehensive, three-year program that leads to certification in forefoot, rearfoot, ankle, and reconstructive surgery. The first year of resident training is similar to an internship year, where the resident will complete most of his or her medicine based rotations. During the second and third years of training, the resident will receive mainly podiatric clinical and surgical training. Sanford Health is the regions only Level 1 trauma center, which provides a high volume of exposure to various trauma cases throughout residency. The goal of the Sanford Health Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency is to train podiatric residents, who, after three years of training at Sanford Medical Center, will have the skills and knowledge to treat a variety of podiatric conditions in the clinical setting
