Clerkship Overview

Our clerkship serves as an audition rotation for prospective residency candidates and is open to national applicants by formal application. Students work closely with program leadership and are given priority consideration during the residency selection process. Students are fully integrated into the clinical, surgical, and academic life of the program, caring for inpatients, outpatients, and surgical patients in a wide range of settings across Chicago. Rotations include time with Weil Foot & Ankle Institute/Balance Health—one of the nation’s largest podiatric private practice groups, and OR rotations at Endeavor Health-NorthShore Hospitals, and Rush University Medical Center, providing a unique mix of academic and private practice exposure.

Residency Overview

The University of Chicago Medical Center (Endeavor/NorthShore) Podiatric Residency offers a surgically focused, academically driven training program. Residents rotate through high-volume institutions including Endeavor Health, the third-largest nonprofit integrated health system in the U.S., and Rush University Medical Center. Training occurs at multiple Level I/II trauma centers, with graduates logging 1,000+ surgical cases in forefoot, rearfoot, trauma, reconstruction, arthroscopy, and sports medicine. The program features a 100% ABFAS board pass rate and access to advanced technology, including robotic-assisted surgery, intraoperative imaging, and 3D planning. The program emphasizes education, clinical excellence, and research, with support from project design through publication.
