Our Podiatric Medicine & Surgery Residency provides podiatric medical college graduates with the didactic instruction and clinical experience necessary to achieve competence in the full scope of advanced podiatric foot and ankle surgery and medicine.
Serving as a clerk/extern with our program is the best way to find out what UofL has to offer! During your clerkship, you’ll observe and participate in a variety of experiences, including patient care encounters, surgeries, and academic meetings. You’ll also get to know our program’s leadership, attending faculty, and outstanding residents and fellows. Ultimately, your month with us will give you a sense of the rhythm behind the residency.

Residency Overview
The University of Louisville School of Medicine’s Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with the added credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery (PMSR/RRA) is a thirty-six (36) month program in which the resident receives training in both basic and advanced types of podiatric medicine and surgical procedures. It is accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME).
The residency provides the podiatric medical college graduate with the didactic instruction and clinical experience necessary to achieve competence in the full scope of advanced podiatric foot and ankle surgery and medicine. To this end, our residents participate in a variety of medical and surgical rotations designed to broaden and strengthen their capabilities as health practitioners and to clarify their role in comprehensive health care delivery systems.
