We designed our residency to model the practice of podiatric foot and ankle surgeons with inpatient and outpatient experiences in primary and tertiary care seeing routine and unique cases. Our residents’ exceptional pass rate on the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery qualification exam before graduation reflects the quality of their educational experience at Gundersen. Our program is accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education.

Residency Overview

Three year program leading to eligibility for certification examination by the ABPS. Blends inpatient and outpatient experiences to closely resemble the practice of podiatric physicians. Two entry-level positions available. Faculty has a strong commitment to teaching, as does the whole institution. Our focus is to train podiatric physicians who are excellent clinicians and understand the basic science behind surgical procedures. Located in beautiful Western Wisconsin on the banks of the Mississippi River. Many sporting and cultural activities available year-round.
