Program Emphasis
OSF Saint Francis Medical Center’s PSMR/RRA program is structured to provide hands-on experience. Located at the fifth-largest medical center in Illinois and is the area’s only Level I Trauma Center. High-volume surgical training includes rearfoot and ankle reconstruction, foot & ankle arthroscopy, Charcot reconstruction, foot & ankle trauma and limb salvage.

Clerkship Overview
The Clerkship experience encompasses all aspects of podiatric medicine and surgery. Rotations provide a robust exposure to medicine and surgery in a team based interdisciplinary setting at a level 1 trauma center and high-level teaching facility. Surgical training includes rearfoot and ankle reconstruction, foot and ankle arthroscopy, Charcot reconstruction, foot & ankle trauma and limb salvage.
OSF Saint Francis Medical Center participates in a monthly clerkship experience for 3rd or 4th year students enrolled in an accredited podiatric medical school. The clerkship is designed to provide students with a high-quality educational experience by allowing supervised, active participation in a mix of inpatient (medical and surgical) and outpatient cases. The student attends weekly didactic and academic experiences, including completing a journal review or case presentation related to their experience at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center

Residency Overview
OSF Saint Franics Medical Center’s Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with a credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery program (PMSR/RRA) is a 36-month program for graduates of accredited colleges of podiatric medicine to provide knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to practice with the highest quality of podiatric medicine and surgery.
Our PSMR/RRA program is structured to provide hands-on experience for both inpatient and outpatient cases. High-volume surgical training includes rearfoot and ankle reconstruction, foot & ankle arthroscopy, Charcot reconstruction, foot & ankle trauma and limb salvage.
