Introduction
To provide the resident post graduate training in Foot and Ankle Medicine and Surgery, so that they may be a competent podiatric physician and surgeon. To provide the resident the ability to be successful in becoming board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and/or becoming Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. To provide the resident an awareness that many lower extremity pathologies are not limited in nature, but are of a systemic origin, and require a solid foundation in the basics of various medical disciplines.Residency Director

Program Overview
Program Emphasis
This program emphasizes surgical training to a variety of patient populations, both urban and rural. Residents rotate to trauma/heavy surgical practices in both Minnesota and the upper peninsula of Michigan during their 3rd year. Non-podiatric rotations are well established within Henry Ford St. John Hospital and our residents are well respected amongst the other programs.

Clerkship Overview
One month clerkship provide excellent training in podiatric medicine and surgery. Clerks will be able to participate in all aspects of clinic, surgery and hospital patient care. Weekly didactics, hands on workshops and overview from current residents help train and prepare clerks for the next stage in their education

Residency Overview
The program provides active participation of the clerk. Emphasis is placed on reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. Didactics activities occur daily as well as clinical skills.
