Introduction

East Liverpool City Hospital offers a 3-year PMSR/RRA Podiatric Medicine Residency program, fully accredited by the Council of Podiatric Medical Education. The program is home to one of the oldest podiatric residencies in the country and aims to produce leaders in the field of podiatric medicine and surgery. The residency program is directed by Dr. Ramy Fahim with the assistant director Dr. James Rousher.

Program Emphasis

Premier training in complex diabetic limb salvage, rearfoot reconstruction, total ankle replacement, and advanced lower-extremity trauma care. Residents participate in daily academics, weekly radiology and case conferences with postoperative follow-up, cadaver labs, journal clubs, and research opportunities presented at regional and national conferences.

Residency Overview

Comprehensive surgical training with high volume (approximately 750 cases) and high quality procedures (scopes, ex fix, TAR, Charcot recon, etc). Great relationship with orthopedic surgeons. Primary attendings include fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeons (MD and DPMs). Daily morning didactics from various surgical texts with weekly attending driven radiology conference. Monthly workshops and wet labs at a state of the art cadaver lab and facility, often multiple a month. Guest lecturers from leading orthopedic institutions from across the European medical world. Monthly journal club and case presentations. High emphasis on research. Good exposure to wound care at affiliated hospital-based wound healing centers. We are looking for hard-working team players that blend well and who are teachable.
