HCA Florida Northwest Hospital
Introduction
Now is an exciting time to be involved in the field of foot and ankle surgery. Advances in implant technology, minimally invasive surgery, orthobiologics, and regenerative medicine have pushed our profession into the forefront of lower extremity care. The HCA Florida Northwest Hospital Foot and Ankle Surgery Residency Program was established in 1997 and has produced many successful podiatric surgeons. The program accepts two residents per year for three years of post-graduate surgical training. Our attending faculty consists of physicians from various renowned residency programs which offers our trainees a diverse educational experience. The resident physician will gain experience in everything related to lower extremity care. This includes elective and non-elective (trauma) forefoot, hindfoot, and ankle surgery, diabetic limb salvage, wound care, ankle arthroscopy, deformity correction, minimally invasive surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, and total ankle replacement. In addition to the high surgical caseload, our residents gain significant experience through clinical rotations and didactic activities including weekly lectures, journal clubs, surgical text chapter reviews, workshops, and cadaver labs. Our goal is to provide the resident with a comprehensive training experience that prepares them for the next chapter in their professional career. We thank you for your interest in the Foot and Ankle Surgery Residency Program at HCA Florida Northwest Hospital. Sincerely, Alan A. MacGill, DPM, FACFAS Program DirectorResidency Director
