Introduction

The Podiatry Residency Training Program at Bethesda Hospital East provides the recent graduate with the opportunity to gain extensive experience in the conditions associated with a general podiatric medical and surgical practice and to study advanced and related sciences essential for the practice of podiatric medicine and surgery. We offer an extremely high-volume surgical program with attending physicians from diverse training backgrounds. Residents benefit from a strong clinical and didactical focus and frequently contribute to publications and presentations. Participants have a high pass rate for foot surgery and RRA boards. Our program’s vision is to prepare residents to improve community foot and ankle health and collaborate effectively in the community healthcare structure.

Residency Overview

The program started in 2010 and is fully approved by CPME as PMSR w added credential in RRA. There is an emphasis on reconstructive forefoot, rearfoot, ankle and lower leg surgery of all types as described above. We are very active with Emergency Room call where podiatric attendings cover all pathology below the tibial tuberosity. Residents cover this call at all times. There is ample time for surgery as well as pre/post op clinical management, practice management and ancillary rotations. Strong emphasis on podiatric office rotations, practice management and wound care/limb salvage clinics as well.
