Clerkship Overview
The Podiatry Program at the Richmond VA Medical Center provides comprehensive foot and ankle care while offering students hands‑on experience in a supportive, patient‑centered environment. Our team focuses on clinical excellence, collaborative learning, and improving mobility and quality of life for Veterans. Students will gain exposure to a range of podiatric conditions, procedures, and interdisciplinary teamwork.

Residency Overview
The Richmond VA Medical Center offers a 3-year Podiatric Medicine & Surgery Residency, accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME), with a focus on advanced foot and ankle surgery. They accept one resident per year. Accrue sick and annual leave each pay period and paid time off on all federal holidays. Health, Dental, Vision and Malpractice insurance available for all health professions trainees. Rotations include Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Infectious Disease, Radiology, Rehabilitative Medicine, Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Vascular Lab, and more! Emphasis is placed on development of surgical and wound management skills. Health professions trainees have access to a simulation lab, a cadaver lab, and an extensive online medical library. ACLS training provided by the VA once onboarding activities are complete.
