Clerkship Overview

During your stay with us, you will be able to observe and help take care of a number of patients with a wide variety of lower extremity problems. Because this is a Harvard Teaching Hospital, many complex limb salvage and revision cases are referred for care. Referrals for patients with unusual or difficult problems are encouraged. The most current diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic modalities are employed in the treatment of both adult and pediatric patients. We hope to sufficiently challenge you as you become involved with our: • Operating room procedures • In-patient management • Emergency consultations • On-call experience • Hospital-based clinics • Private office-based clinics (with training in billing and practice management) • Many didactics (too many to name here) • Research You will find that while you are at Mount Auburn Hospital, you can learn as much as your interests carry you. You have direct access to attendings that are regular national speakers who have complex surgical fellowship training, important leadership roles and advanced research backgrounds. Our podiatric surgical residents and attending surgeons are accustomed to having medical students join us and are happy to have you as part of our team. We hope that by the time your rotation is over, you share our passion for the profession and have more than a passing feel for what it takes to be a podiatric surgeon.
