Introduction

The Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at Cooper University Hospital is a three-year program with Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle credentialing designed to give residents the maximum amount of exposure to all aspects of podiatric surgery and prepare residents for practice. While emphasis is placed on the development of surgical skills, the residents will also develop the necessary clinical skills and practice management ability to succeed. The residency prepares and allows the resident to become eligible to take the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery examinations during their third year. This program is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education and there are currently six podiatry residency positions with two residents per year. Cooper University Health Care is a tertiary care medical center in Camden, New Jersey. It is the only Level 1 Trauma Center serving the entire southern half of New Jersey. The hospital has a partnership with the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Cooper offers its residents a wide range of support services. Residents and faculty actively participate in didactic labs, Journal Clubs, and academic lectures throughout the year. The Cooper Medical Library has a large selection of podiatric-related books with over 80 titles, as well as access to a wide range of journals.
