Introduction

The Geisinger CMC Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency is a distinguished three-year PMSR/RRA program designed to equip residents with an exceptional foundation in both medical and surgical practices. With a robust volume of surgical cases—including forefoot and rearfoot procedures, trauma management, reconstruction, implants, and salvage surgeries—residents gain invaluable hands-on experience. Additionally, the program ensures substantial clinical exposure, allowing residents to engage with pre-operative and post-operative patients, along with comprehensive training in wound care, making it an ideal choice for aspiring podiatrists.

Residency Overview

Geisinger Community Medical Center is a PMSR/RRA-certified program involved in all facets of podiatric medicine and surgery. Residents rotate with all specialties and implement wound care practices and Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy. Strong surgical skills are enforced with excellent guidance from staff. Attendings in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, including Charcot reconstruction, rearfoot and forefoot procedures, ankle arthroscopy, Ilizarov frames, limb salvage, and trauma. Hospital-based and outpatient clinics are included in the curriculum, encompassing all aspects of podiatric medicine. Research and education remain a priority as a resident.
