Clerkship Overview
The externship program at St. Luke’s Hospital is designed to help 4th year students improve their knowledge of podiatric surgery, patient management, and hospital protocols. In addition, it is our hope that each student’s experience will prove to be beneficial with residency interviews and board examinations.
The podiatric teaching staff at St. Luke’s University Health Network is comprised of both board certified and board qualified foot and ankle surgeons who enjoy working in an academic setting. With those surgeons, students are exposed to a diverse procedural base - extending from elective forefoot and rearfoot procedures, to complex diabetic limb salvage and trauma surgery. Finally, St. Luke's provides an excellent opportunity for the externs to participate in various podiatric clinics designed to improve their clinical knowledge and decision making.
