Clerkship Overview

The Bellevue Hospital Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program provides comprehensive training in podiatric medicine and surgery. As an extern, you will have the opportunity to observe and actively participate in patient care alongside experienced podiatric surgeons and physicians. Throughout the externship, you will gain exposure to a wide range of podiatric conditions, surgical techniques, and interdisciplinary collaboration within the dynamic healthcare environment of Bellevue Hospital. Clerks are required to: 1. Attend all Monday Didactic Sessions 2. Complete Journal Club presentations and lecture requirements 3. Attend all in-services and attending-led clinical skills sessions 4. Write up Operative Notes for cases they participated in Didactic Schedule Overview: • 1st Monday: Journal Club Article (submit article 1 week prior). • 2nd Monday: Assigned Topic Lecture. • 3rd Monday: Journal Club Article (submit article 1 week prior). • 4th Monday: Case-Based Lecture. • 5th Monday (if applicable): Journal Club Article (submit article 1 week prior). Components: The following are components integrated into the weekly Monday Didactics/Journal Club Sessions: 1. Journal Club Presentation 2. Assigned Topic Lecture 3. Case-Based Lecture 4. Mandatory Attendance
