Clerkship Overview
Our Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Clerkship at Bellevue Hospital offers a unique experience with exposure to a wide range of medical and surgical disciplines. You will work alongside our residents and experience collaboration with specialists in trauma surgery, vascular surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, infectious disease, emergency medicine, and wound care, allowing for a truly multidisciplinary imbedded approach to foot and ankle pathology. As a Level I Trauma Center servicing all of Manhattan, Bellevue provides unparalleled experience in the management of complex lower extremity trauma, limb salvage, diabetic foot infections, and emergent reconstructive cases. You will gain exposure in both elective and high-acuity settings while our team cares for one of the most diverse patient populations in New York City. Bellevue is nationally recognized for excellence in emergency medicine and trauma care, and serves as the flagship public hospital affiliated with the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Founded in 1736, Bellevue is the oldest public hospital in the United States and remains a major referral center for highly complex medical and surgical cases. The institution is also recognized for its leadership in critical care, microsurgical limb replantation, spinal cord injury management, and comprehensive multidisciplinary trauma services.
