Clerkship Overview
The Podiatric Clerkship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJ) and North Shore University Hospital offers students an immersive, high-volume clinical and surgical experience within Northwell Health. Rotating students function as an integral part of the team, working directly alongside our 12 residents during their month-long rotation.
Students will gain comprehensive exposure to a diverse patient pathology, spanning elective forefoot and reconstructive rearfoot surgery, diabetic limb salvage, wound care, trauma, and inpatient management across both major tertiary care facilities. Responsibilities include participating in daily inpatient rounds, assisting in the operating room, attending weekly academic didactics, and engaging in interactive clinical evaluations.
Logistics & Requirements
Housing: Housing is not provided by the institution. Rotating students are responsible for securing their own local accommodations.
Transportation: A personal vehicle is required. Because the clerkship spans multiple clinical sites—including LIJ Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, and associated outpatient centers—students must have reliable independent transportation to travel between campuses.
