Program Emphasis
Our program has a strong emphasis on diabetic foot/wound management. Residents have the opportunity to work closely with orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, vascular surgery and the burn unit. A brand new Comprehensive wound center offers a wealth of education, collaborating with multiple specialties.

Residency Overview
'-A large 714 bed hospital spanning two locations- residents care for approximately 20-30 patients at a time!
-A Diabetic Treatment Center open five days a week
-Three Operating sites where elective and non-elective training takes place.
-A state of the art simulation lab where learners can gain clinical experience.
-SIUH North is a level-I trauma center.
-An Emergency Room with laboratory and radiology areas, including a large 6-bed trauma bay with helipad.
-Close relationships with the Orthopedic,Radiology, Burn, Plastics, Vascular and Infectious Disease teams allow for unique, lectures and conferences with participation from faculty, physician assistants and fellows as well as podiatry residents.
-Opportunity to participate in recreational activities with residents from other programs
