Introduction

At NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, we offer a comprehensive podiatric medicine and surgery program that is three years in length. Our residents are trained in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, as well as the medical management of podiatric pathology in a hospital setting. There are 12 approved residency positions (four in each year).

Residency Overview

This is a unique 3 year program devoted to all aspects of podiatric surgery and medicine including elective, trauma, reconstructive, arthroscopic and endoscopic surgery of the ankle and foot. There is extensive training in internal and external fixation techniques, wound care, clinic and private office experience in each year. Rotations include Vascular Surgery, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, and Hospitalist Medicine. You are part of each respective service, functioning as their resident in the OR, angio suite, and on the floors. In addition to the Director and Associate Director, there are core academic faculty and 40 ancillary podiatrists. Weekly Grand Rounds, journal club, and formal academic lectures are open to students, residents and attendings. Externships are strongly encouraged. Visits may be arranged.
