Introduction

The Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Credential (PMSR/RRA) offered by NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery is accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME). Our residency program sponsors three residents for three years (36 months) of training and prepares residents for successful careers in both academic and clinical podiatric surgery. We take pride in the surgical skills our residents develop, providing a magnitude of cases well beyond the requirements outlined by the CPME. Top doctors teach residents how to provide expert care in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot and ankle in a state-of the-art setting at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island. Residency Overview

Our 36 month program sponsors 9 residents; three per year for three years. During the first year, residents train with attending podiatry and medical physicians who provide education, supervision and performance assessment. While rotating in other specialty services, the residents make frequent inpatient rounds with the healthcare team, attend educational conferences, supplemented by conferences held by the Division of Podiatry. In year two of training, the residents become actively involved in podiatric surgery, focusing on the performance of foot surgery and exposure to reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. Emphasis during year three of training is placed on reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, inclusive of surgical management of traumatology. By completion of the podiatric surgical training experience, the resident will be competent in the performance areas Full Curriculum can be found at the Program's Website: <a href="https://medli.nyu.edu/departments-divisions/ortho
