Introduction

This is a PMSR/RRA program that covers multiple hospitals and offers surgical and non surgical experience in trauma, reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery, and diabetic limb salvage. The program is affiliated with a on site wound care center and has access to HBOT. Residents rotate through all major subspecialties and have a well versed exposure to all podiatric pathology with coverage of multiple Northwell Health facilities.

Clerkship Overview

This clerkship offers exposure to elective surgery, wound care and trauma. Students will be exposed to a variety of surgical cases encompassing all facets of podiatry including limb salvage. Increased outpatient exposure for students within private offices is currently in process but is a goal of the clerkship going forward. Additionally, students are encouraged to participate in weekly academics such as journal club and lectures.

It offers experiences in hyperbarics, wound care, and the vascular laboratory and management of trauma cases in the emergency department.
